It's 4:30am and I am still up playing with Tank skin :D Managed to re-colour the turret (see above) for testing. Will try to do weather correction later. Below I explain why we need to replace and redo most of the default tank skins.

Problems

What's the problem with War Thunder's default: too much exposed white metal.

Unless it is made of Aluminium, moving tracks or unpainted gun parts, it is going to get rust and almost instantly, depending where is the tank and how constant is the area being in contact.

The colour of the rust varies. Mostly are Earth Brown to Really Dark Earth Brown.

If the part is cast, like hatch, Dark Gray is advisable. Cast Iron tends to have a darker tone and semi-metallic finish. It normally rust to become Really Dark Earth Brown or stay Dark Gray.

The reason why exposed white metal on gun parts is acceptable on tank is because of maintenance. All weapons are clean at least once a day. Normally we do the cleaning after combat. Rusty weapon is dangerous and our lives maybe at risk if we used it. The reason why white metal is exposed on guns is the protective coating on the weapon is worn off due to regular cleaning.

Trust me. I'm a Mechanical Engineer and was from Armour =)

Reality

In modern day and reality, every tank crew will be court martial if we allow our vehicle to rust, especially to such extent that War Thunder present to us. It is also very demoralising to friendly troops, especially Infantry, to see their 'protector' in such poor condition.
