Why I Create This Site

It is really a lot of work going through 20+ pages on the forum and scrolls of pages every time I want to skin a new plane or a new idea. On top of that, many blank skins listed on the official site are not properly tagged or are not listed on the forum.

So I decided to compile all the templates that I had found so far and share them on this site, so that it is easier for everyone to access.

Resolution Rating for Aircraft Templates

Size sorted as follows:
  • [LD] or Low Definition Skins are of at least 1024x1024 pixels and will be temporarly accepted until an SD or HD skin is available.
  • [SD] or Standard Definition Skins are of at least 2048x2048 pixels and will be the most widely accepted, as they don't compromise load times.
  • [HD] or High Definition skins are of at least 4096x4096. The upcoming standard for War Thunder.
  • [UHD] or Ultra High Definition skins are of at least 8192x8192.

Resolution Rating for Tank Templates

It is impossible for us to give resolution rating for Tanks because they comes in different sizes and number of files.

Guidelines for All Templates

Rough Guidelines, Rules and Specifications for uploaded blank skin files for consistency:

All Files:
  • Resoution: 72 pixels / inch or 28.346 pixels / cm
  • Packaging: WTL Demands ZIP and RAR only. If saving in other than RAR or ZIP, please specify.
  • Visual: has to be free of markings/decals and camo, even a white saturation layer over it (to remove the colors) will do if you can't do a "baremetal" effect on it.
[TGA] files only:
  • Resolution when saving: 32 bits / pixel, No Compression.
[DDS] files only:
  • Recommended settings : DTX5, ARGB, 8BPP, Interpolated Alpha, No MIP Maps. As it offers the best quality-to-size ratio.
[PSD] / [XCF] files only:
  • Layers are preferred. Split them part by part - fuselage, cockpit, cowling, wings, slats etc... you get the picture.
  • is given to those well documented Layered PSD or XCF templates.
is an indicator that you can test your skin without research/purchase. Check on Test Flight and you can change to your skin in User Skin, so long your BLK is set properly.

meant Reward/Bundled vehicles. You can test your skin without research/purchase for Bundled vehicles. Check on Test Flight and you can change to your skin in User Skin, so long your BLK is set properly.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Newer [LD], [TGA] only, [DDS] only and external link Templates will NOT be added to the list once [PSD] or [XCF] for that particular vehicle is available on WT Live.
